KOLKATA: A tusker entered into the campus of the IIT Kharagpur this evening and damaged havoc the Technology market.
The animal earlier destroyed crops and damaged many residences at Jakpur, Thakurnagar and Palasia in rural areas of Kharagpur.
A police officer said the animal damaged the gate of the Tata Stadium and some shops of the market. Shop owners soon fled away after closing their shops. People also stayed inside their residence. Senior divisional forest officials arrived at the spot and supervising elephant driving operation. A large number of crowds gathered at the spot and forest employees facing difficulties to continue the tusker driving operation. Police also arrived at the spot and urging people to vacate the area.
