Few lakhs people will visit
Shantipur and Nawadip for celebrating raas festival from tomorrow. Shantipur
was the birthplace of Adaitya thakur and Nawadwip was the birth place of Sri Chaitanya
Mahaprabhu. Both place were the union centre of shakta and vaishnab. Pioneer of
the raas festival was bara goswami para at Santipur. It was known folklore that forefather of Maharaja Krishnachandra had started raas yatra in 1706. Ten health camp were set up at Shantipur. Local municipality has asked the cleaning staffs to clean the ghat of River Ganges. Strong security arrangement has been made. Other goswai were active to spread
this festival elsewhere. To cater to the rush of passengers /devotees during
‘Raas Yatra Utsav’ in Shantipur area, Eastern Railway’s Sealdah division will
run one pair of EMU Special Train between Sealdah and Shantipur in the nights
of 7/8 November & 8/9 .November, 2014. The Up EMU Special will leave
Sealdah at 21:06 hrs. and reach Shantipur at 23:32 hrs. while the Down
Special train leaving Shantipur at 00:10 hrs (.i.e. 12:10 a.m. , midnight)
will arrive at Sealdah station at 2:35 hrs. This Special train will stop
at all stations enroute in both the directions.
Moreover, Eastern Railway
has arranged stoppages of more EMU locals at Bathna Krittibas Halt station
during ‘Raas Yatra Utsav’. As a temporary measure, 12 Up trains and
11 Down trains of Ranaghat-Shantipur-Krishnanagar section will provide
additional stoppage at Bathna Krittibas Halt station from 6 to 9 November,
2014.
